Meet our returning instructor:  Sue Khodarami

Sue Khodarami - Free Yoga in the Park 2012Sue Khodarahmi has been practicing yoga since 1993, and this is her fifth year to meet us all on the mat for Free Yoga in the Park. In 2009, she returned to the classical style of hatha yoga that first inspired her, and received her teaching certification from the Shambhava School of Yoga. Shambhava Yoga draws from the rich tapestry of yogic teachings to explain how to use the circumstances of our own lives to grow consciously, and features breath-focused hatha yoga to help us relax, open and align with the more subtle flow of energy. Her classes are energetic and fun, with an emphasis on core and upper-body strength and flexibility.

Awaken the Spine at Free Yoga in the Park

Come join us on the mat and discover how powerful it is to awaken the spine.  Our breath with movement sequence releases energy stored in the spine and in the pranic (subtle) body known as the sushumna nadi.  Through moving the spine in six directions, forward bends, backbends, lateral movements and twists to each side, this central channel of energy is literally awakened.  Organically opening the spine allows fluids to move through each vertebra, nourishing, soaking and shining the entire spine like a string of new pearls.

Opening Day of Free Yoga in the Park 2012Opening day drew more than 130 people to the 2012 Free Yoga in the Park – Highlands Ranch, Co.  Sponsored by NamasteWorks Yoga and the Highlands Ranch Metro district, this annual program continues to grow with first-timers stepping onto the mat to explore the world of yoga.

What a wonderful Wednesday.  The sky bright blue, our senses heightened, our bodies, mind and spirit all awakened.  Nancy Levenson led the practice this morning, guiding others into a morning flow combining the philosophy of the center, Breath with Movement.

Step on the mat with us this summer.  Come out Saturday when Sue Khodarami takes the lead and guides the morning practice from 8:15-9:15 am, Civic Green Park, Highlands Ranch, Co.

Sue teaches at NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness and  is especially interested in helping people of all ages build and restore strength and endurance through yoga, and hopes her classes not only inspire students to regularly practice yoga, but also to explore other activities that they may not have had the confidence to try before. (Sue freely admits that she took up snowboarding at age 40, even having never skied before.) Her classes are energetic and fun, with an emphasis on core and upper-body strength and flexibility.
