Meet Free Yoga in the Park Instructor – Barbara Bloodgood

Meet Free Yoga in the Park Instructor – Barbara Bloodgood

Barbara is a yoga guide that has endured her own hardships. A breast cancer survivor and a trained breast cancer yoga instructor, Barbara discovered the yoga world after experiencing her own step back from optimal health in 2002.

It was then that Barbara became committed to her own yoga journey. She loved being on the mat, it offered her the spirituality piece that she felt had been lacking for some time in her life and provided her an inward look at her own heart and soul. She then went on to complete two different 200HR training programs, one with Core Power Yoga and her most recent certification with Integrative Yoga Therapy through  NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness of Highlands Ranch.  In addition to focusing on clients without perfect bodies, Barbara has also conducted yoga retreats and wellness classes in the community.

Don’t let her fool you, she is a firecracker…and you might hear her say the word “alignment”, “alignment”, “alignment”.

Join Barbara and all of our amazing instructors this  summer at Free Yoga in the Park, starting Saturday May 27, 2017 from 8:15-9:15 hosted by NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness and the Highlands Ranch Metro Districts.  For more details on the remaining schedule and what to bring, visit http://namasteworksyoga.com/events.

NamasteWorks Yoga introduces “The Healing Ribbon™” a therapeutic yoga program for breast cancer clients

NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness invites you to take part in its newest offering, The Healing Ribbon™, an eight week program specifically designed to bring the therapeutic applications of yoga to women with breast cancer. Barbara Bloodgood, a breast cancer survivor and a trained breast cancer yoga instructor, will be your guide on this journey toward wellness and health through yoga.

The intention for this eight week program is to help you develop tools and techniques for coping with breast cancer at all levels, physical, energetic, emotional, psychological and spiritual. Each ninety minute session will deepen your self-awareness of your physical body, enhance your flow of energy and breath through the body, and bring you in touch with your feelings and emotions, as well allowing you to be silently present to all that occurs with growing objectivity.

“I’m delighted to bring forth new programs targeted specially to certain populations. I’ve been envisioning The Healing Ribbon™ program for some time now and am excited to have found a teacher who can deliver this service to the community. In addition to this program, the center will also be offering The Joyful Warrior™ a program designed for anyone suffering from seasonal affective disorder, depression or just wanting to invite more JOY into their lives,” said Nancy Levenson, founder of the center.

The Healing Ribbon™ classes start October 21 and are held at the New Center of NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness in the heart of Old Town Littleton, 5860 S. Curtice Street, Littleton, CO 80120.

EXPLORING YOGA AND BREAST CANCER

A Personal Journey by Barbara Bloodgood – Breast Cancer Instructor at NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness

There are days that are etched forever in our memories ….a special date, September 11th, the death of a beloved family member. Our capacity to recall, relive, and renew are among the greatest gifts we possess.

July 4, 2002 is that date for me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer – out of the blue, without family history, and a healthy, strong body, I was thrown into the rigors of surgeries, chemo and radiation.

Physically, I was strong and coped incredibly well with all the medical procedures. Emotionally, I had staunch and undying support and devotion from my husband, and friends who rallied, comforted and supported me, which was heart-warming and radiant. My battle was spirituality and faith. I lived by the golden rule, I played fair, and I lived a moral and ethical life. It was as if my 52 year old heart which had always been content, actually blissful and certainly at peace had been removed as surely as the tumor. Eager to be well, doing all that was medically possible, I found myself carrying a lifeless heart. Read more
