National Yoga Month, recognized by the US Department of Health & Human Services the entire month of September, is designed to build awareness of yoga’s proven health benefits and inspire people to participate in free classes and events nationwide. Launched in 2008, the initiative has taken root as a global awareness campaign, educating, inspiring and motivating people to achieve a healthy lifestyle. This year, over 2,000 free classes and events are being held nationwide. Yoga Month is coordinated by the Yoga Health Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and locally, NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness, is sponsoring free classes through September 4 at the annual Free Yoga In the Park, Highlands Ranch.

NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness, has offered FREE YOGA IN THE PARK since May 26 and runs through September 4th in Highlands Ranch.

“Our objective was to create a venue for anyone to come out and try a free yoga class and realize first-hand the many health benefits of integrating mind, body and spirit. Unlike other “fitness” programs, yoga encourages a journey deeper within ourselves, linking our breath, body and mind into a practice of peacefulness and in this venue nature and community are an added bonus,” said, Nancy Levenson, founder of NamasteWorks Yoga + Wellness, LLC.

FREE YOGA IN THE PARK has been drawing crowds in excess of 175 participants per class and is open to the entire Colorado community. The intention behind FREE YOGA IN THE PARK and National Yoga Month is to get more individuals to experience yoga and discover the many health benefits of this 5,000 year old modality. Three classes remain this year, Wednesday August 25, Wednesday, September 1, and the final class is Saturday, September 4.
